Nursing home owners need HIQA guidance, says study

Nursing home owners need more guidance from the health watchdog HIQA, according to new research published by the National Economic and Social Council – but is that guidance available from HIQA? HIQA dictate the standards that need to be policed and achieved but they will not provide the means to achieve that, much less the consideration of the costs and practices that are required. That governance applies equally to Public & Private Operators, but it is Private Operators who are under commercial pressure to achieve compliance currently, and to ensure that their business still maintains viability against this backdrop of extra cost and regulation. Broadmeadow have developed their methodology specifically to manage that balance, and to take account of Best Practice, even beyond the HIQA standards. The need to ensure that Person-Centred Care is sustained within the constraints of the Nursing Home business model is fundamental to the Nursing Home sector – and our experience and templates help to guide the owner operator towards that improvement.
